In use in Europe in the 17th century, carried at the hip by gentlemen who used it especially in duels.
Steel blade, sharp with double-edged hard heel and hexagonal section, hard shelled with small decorations.
The brass-plated metal hilt has a chiselled and hand-worked grip with straight-armed guard and double-valved shell, plus a small bridge to protect the knuckles.
