Lithium-ion polymer (LiPo) battery packs are the successors of the well-known lithium-ion (LiIon) battery packs. The key advantage of LiPo batteries is undoubtedly the capacity / size ratio. They are very small in size and at the same time very energy efficient, which allows you to choose a suitable battery pack for practically every AEG replica. It has no memory effect. Batteries can be charged very often without first being discharged. Frequent recharging is very beneficial for this type of battery.

Remember not to discharge the LiPo battery below 3V per cell and not to overcharge it beyond 4.2V per cell. Another advantage of the LiPo battery pack is a small self-discharge rate. An unused battery pack will only lose 3% to 5% of its energy. It is necessary to check the battery pack because if you store the battery pack for a long time, the battery pack could discharge below the minimum value (3V per cell) and, therefore, lead to irreversible chemical reactions that can cause a deterioration of the characteristics of the battery pack including its permanent damage and, in extreme cases, self-ignition. An unused LiPo battery should be approximately 70% charged.

When using LiPo battery packs properly, their life should be around 500-700 cycles. The operating temperature of LiPo battery packs is very vital. Contrary to normal battery packs, the LiPo cell performs quite well in cold temperatures. However, they should be charged at room temperature. To keep LiPo battery packs in good condition you need to balance them during the charging process with the use of a service socket that most LiPo battery packs are equipped with (a good LiPo charger has a built-in balancer).
