MEDIEVAL BULLET CROSSBOW (26/L.01)

Bullet crossbow used mainly for hunting birds and small game during the 16th century. Its diffusion, particularly among the nobility, meant that many examples of bullet crossbows were real pieces of art, decorated and engraved even in their metal components. Holders in shaped national hard fiber wood, with aiming fork, trigger mechanism and golden metal decorations. The two braided hemp strings are held in place by wooden spacers and are attached to the pointed ends of the steel bow, covered with leather trim. The bullet compartment consists of a small leather pocket positioned in the center of the strings.
